Jewell Williams Grissom

Jewell Williams Grissom, 93, of Red Bay, passed away Oct. 27 at Red Bay Hospital.
She was born April 5 1914 in Prentiss County, Miss. to David Harris and Mattie Pearl Dobbs Williams. She was the former owner of Bay Floral in Red Bay and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heyburn A. Grissom; brother, Roy Williams; sister, Hattie Thornton, infant daughter, Doris Jean Grissom; great-grandson, Brian Bement; great-granddaughter, Presley Miller, sons-in-law, Joe Gresham and June Harris; one step-grandson and two step-granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at Deaton Funeral Home with Bro. Coye Marbutt officiating. Burial flowed in Mt. Zion.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda (Trilmon) Hamm, of Red Bay, Nedra Daws, of Gainsville, Geo., Sue Harris, of Belmont, Miss.; brother, Troy (Rita) Williams, of Belmont, Miss.; grandchildren, Guy Bement, Terry Bement, Debra Childers, Randall Daws, Sherri Barnett, Lisa Jackson, Bill Morrow, Jason Harris; great-grandchildren, Robin Miller, Drew Jackson, Aimee Jackson, Brodie Morrow, Kira Morrow, Logan Morrow, Jeffrey Childers, Eric Massey, Ethan Harris, Emily Harris, Shannon Majsztrik, Summer Daws, Shelby Daws, Nicole Wynn; 14 step-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, Carter Miller and Kevin Childers.
Her granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Pallbearers will be Guy Bement, Terry Bement, Randall Daws, Bill Morrow, Drew Jackson and Brodie Morrow.
Opal Roberts

Mrs. Opal Mashburn Roberts, 86, of Russellville, died Oct. 26 at NHC Health Care in Moulton.
Mrs. Roberts was a native of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. but had lived in Russellville for the past 16 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Russellville.
Funeral services were held Oct. 29 at Pinkard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell. Eldrege Criscoe, Joe Lenox and Wade Wallace officiated.
Survivors include her husband, Obert W. Roberts, of Russellville; children, J.P. Roberts and wife, Dorlis, of Forrest City, N.C.; daughter, Brenda Sutherland and husband, Rob, of Somerville; brothers, Clifton Mashburn, of N.C., Cullen Mashburn, of Russellville; sisters, Helen Pounders, of Russellville, Yvonne McCellar, of Minn., Chervoise Bird, of Harpersville; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Lula Mashburn; brothers, Buren Mashburn, Grady Mashburn, Lloyd Mashburn, D.J. Mashburn; sisters, Bonnie Jakubowski and Jewel Mashburn.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Roberts, James Roberts, Tommy Mashburn, Mickey Bird, Johnny Sheffield, Jerry King and Bill Pounders.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 522 Lawrence Street, Moulton, AL, 35650.
Hugo S. McCarley

Mr. Hugo Sherman McCarley, 79, of Russellville died Friday Oct. 26 at Burns Nursing Home.
Mr. McCarley was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of Siloam Baptist Church. He was a retired Baptist minister and was retired from Reynolds Metals Company. He was an Army Veteran.
Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Ralton McCarley and Roger Bonds officiated.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Pounders McCarley, of Russellville; son, Tim McCarley and wife, Julie, of Hartsville; daughter, Brenda McCarley, of Russellville; sister, Kathline Perry, of Illinois; brothers, L.M. McCarley, of Spruce Pine; Leaborn McCarley, of Muscle Shoals; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers were Jimmy Pounders, Randy Pounders, Keith Pounders, Jeremy Pounders, Billy Pounders and Charles Pounders.
He was preceded in death by is parents, Walter and Josie McCarley; brothers, Dewey McCarley, Arnie McCarley, Oscar McCarley; sister, Pauline Pounders, and infant sister and grandchild, Mark Newberry.
Betty Jean Washington

Betty Jean Washington, 73, of Russellville passed away Oct. 26.
Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ral Alsbrooks officiating. Burial followed in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry DeVaney, Tim Aaron, Terrell Potter, Troy Oliver, Keith Washington and Sammy Washington. Shane James served as honorary pallbearer.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jimmy Washington; daughters, Rosemary Miller and Melisha Washington; sisters, Louise Britton, Doris Peden; grandchildren, Genus, Dawn, Bridgett and Shane; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenny Oliver; parents, Grady and Rosa Lee Oliver; brother, Junior Oliver; granddaughter, Chasidy.
Gladys Lowery

Gladys G. Lowery, 87, of Florence, died Oct. 28.
Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Stancil officiating. Burial followed in the Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
She was a native of Franklin County and a former resident of Lauderdale County.
She is survived by her sons, Rabon Lowey and wife, Frances, of Florence; daughters, Geneva Cole and husband, James, of Ringold, Geo.; sister-in-law, Bea Clark, of Russellville; grandchildren, Charles Lowery and wife, Rhonda, Keith Inman and wife, Tanya, Mike Suggs, Sherry Price and Angel Burrage; 12 great-grandchildren and eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Lowery; parents, Lennie and Nora Clark; brothers, Jack Clark and Sherman Clark.
Pallbearers were Charles Lowery, Keith Inman, Mike Suggs, Tommy Clark, Jimmy Clark and Dakota Burrage.
She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of El Reposo Nursing Home for such loving care.

Herbert M. Vincent, 76, of Russellville died Oct. 25.
Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Caskey and Bro. Larry Prince officiating.
Burial followed at Franklin Memory Gardens.
He was a native of Colbert County and a former resident of Franklin County.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elmer June Vincent, of Russellville; sons, Bobby Vincent and wife, Joyce, of Russellville; Danny Vincent and wife, Karan, of Russellville; sisters, Ann McNatt, of Russellville and Patricia Lane, of Russellville; brothers, Alton Vincent and wife, Dottie, of Russellville; Davis Vincent, of Russellville; grandchildren, Terrie Fuller and husband, Kevin, Tony Vincent, Cliff Vincent and wife, Tara, Matthew Vincent, Kevin Vincent; great-grandchildren, Ryan Maddox, Cade Fuller and Kailee Fuller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Flora Vincent; brothers, Cecil Vincent, Nile Vincent, Jerry Vincent, Rayburn Vincent; sisters, Doris Malone, Virginia Vincent and infant son, Jimmy Marlow Vincent.
Pallbearers were Tony Vincent, Cliff Vincent, Matt Vincent, Kevin Vincent, Mike Vincent and Kevin Fuller.
