Sheriff's deputies charged a Lauderdale County man with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer Monday afternoon after the man allegedly pulled a gun on a deputy.
Sheriff Billy Sollie said Deputy John Calhoun went to the home of Albert Ford, 43, of 1246 Sand Flat Road, to serve an order to seize property.
Such orders, usually issued by Justice or County court judges, authorize law enforcement officers to seize cash or property in civil cases, Sollie said.
Sollie said when Calhoun arrived on the scene he spoke with a woman who told him Ford was not at home.
Once Calhoun was far enough away from Ford, he called back up deputies and the man was taken into custody without incident, Sollie said. Ford was being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility on $2,500 bond.
