Playing golf for a good cause.
That's what is being offered April 14 during the annual Firefighters Benefit Golf Tournament at the Lakeview Golf Course. Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes will be given away during the tournament, and all proceeds will go to the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Center in Greenville.
The tournament will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
Foy said since 1982, 61 Lauderdale County residents have been treated at Greenville with their expenses exceeding $1.2 million.
The day's activities will include a two-member team scramble format with a hole-in-one at par three paying $10,000. A prize of $5,000 will also be awarded to putting contest winners who purchase a mulligan.
The local firefighters said participants should contact Touchton at 485-1877 or 482-7217. The day of golf involves a $100 fee per two-man team and participants are encouraged to provide their own carts. Fees may also be mailed to No. 7 Fire Station, 910 North Hills St., Meridian MS 39305.
