It took the Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans four innings before they could get their bats hot on Thursday night against division rival Louisville.
The Lady Trojans used a seventh-inning rally to take the 6-5 win over the visiting Lady Wildcats.
Louisville went ahead 1-0 in the first inning on an RBI-double by Sheneaka Cistrunk.
The Lady Wildcats also added another run in the second.
Louisville didn't add any more runs until a pair of doubles brought home two runs in the top of the sixth.
The Louisville girls added their final run in the seventh inning as Faith Whitfield reached first off of a bunt and then scored on a single by Cistrunk.
The Lady Trojans went four innings without scoring a run but in the fifth inning, the Lady Trojans jumped on the scoreboard with four runs from Katie Bergin, Grace Ann Watkins, Raleigh Odom, and Amber Gray.
Northeast then used a two-run seventh inning to take the win. Jennifer Bristow nailed a single to right field to score Odom and Jana Olczak to give the Lady Trojans the slim victory.
Northeast head coach Tommy Gunn was proud of his team's effort. "We didn't hit at the beginning. We stepped up and started hitting late in the game. We just never gave up."
Northeast was led by Watkins' 3-for-4 performance. Gray went
2-for-3. Odom, Bristow, and April Harper all had two hits apiece.
Olczak picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Trojans (3-7, 2-2).
Northeast will travel to Newton County on Monday for a 5 p.m. match up with the Lady Cougars.
