COG endorses new state flag design

By By Sharon White/The Meridian Star
March 23, 2001
Members of the Council of Government's Human Relations Commission joined Thursday to announce that they support changing the design of Mississippi's state flag.
He said the votes cast in an April 17 statewide referendum will in many ways represent one of "the most important" decisions Mississippians will have made in the last century.
Stephens said changing the flag would help with "the healing process," and would also have a positive economic impact on this community.
The Council on Government is a mix of business, education, religion, civil and military representatives who come together to discuss community issues.
