QUITMAN n Clarke County will name a new Junior Miss Saturday night during its annual scholarship program.
Seven high school juniors will be competing for more than $3,500 in scholarships at the annual event, which starts at 7 p.m. at the Quitman High School auditorium.
This year's participants are as follows:
Heather Renee Kennedy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Charles Kennedy of Quitman. Heather attends Quitman High School and plans to attend Mississippi State University after graduation. She plans to be a physical therapist.
Jennifer Karen Kersh is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Kersh of Enterprise. Jennifer attends Enterprise High School and plans to attend Mississippi State University after she graduates. She plans to become an optometrist.
Virvian D. Weems is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Staten of Shubuta. Virvian is a student at Quitman High School, and plans to attend Grambling State University after graduation. She is interested in starting her own business.
Jennifer Lynn Martin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin of Stonewall. Jennifer attends Enterprise High School and plans to attend Meridian Community College after graduation. She plans to enter a career in interior design.
Vicki Lynn Todd is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Todd of Vossburg. Vicki attends Quitman High School and plans to continue her education at East Central Community College and Ole Miss after graduation. She plans to enter a career in computer programming.
Heather Denee' Richardson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Richardson of Stonewall. Heather is a student at Quitman High School and plans to attend Meridian Community College after graduation. She plans to become a dental hygienist.
Karrie Brooke Johnson is the daughter of Willie L. Johnson and Robin D. Johnson, both of Quitman. She attends Quitman High School and plans to attend the University of Louisiana in Monroe. She plans to become a pharmacist.
Lauren Majure, the 2001 Clarke County Junior Miss, will be on hand to present the winner the Junior Miss medallion.
This year's winner will represent Clarke County in the State Program in August, which will be held in Meridian.
