The Meridian Swim Association was well represented in the Mississippi Swimming State Championships held in Cleveland last weekend.
MSA sent seven swimmers to the meet and all performed well.
The swimmers has to meet qualifying times during one of four meets during the summer to qualify for the state meet.
Semmes Partridge came away with the High Point award for the 10-Under swimmers. She finished the meet with the most points to take the honor as best Long Course swimmer in the state. Partridge also won the high point award in the Short Course State Championships held in March.
Partridge finished first in the 200 meter freestyle, 50 fly, 50 breaststroke, 200 Individual Medley, 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
She also finished second in the 100 back and finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke.
Two of the swimmers representing the MSA competed in the 8 &under competitions held on the first morning of the meet. Six-year-old Savanna Boyd and 8-year-old Kaitlen Collins swam very well in the competition.
Boyd took second place in the 25 breaststroke and 50 freestyle in 6 &Under competition. She also took third in the 25 freestyle and seventh place in the 25 backstroke.
Collins took second in 8-year-old breaststroke and 100 Individual Medley. She also took third in 50 breaststroke and 25 butterfly and finished fifth in 50 backstroke.
Aaron Ng, Eric Duckworth, Chesney Tedder and Christie Vaughn also competed in the meet.
Ng achieved personal best in the nine events that he competed in. He finished in the top 15 in all the events and took home an eight place in the 50 backstroke and finished ninth in the 50 breaststroke.
Duckworth made the consolation finals each night of the event and also achieved personal best times during the meet. He took 10th place in the 400 freestyle and 11th in the 100 freestyle and also did well in the other four events he competed in.
Tedder competed in seven events in the meet and swam very well in seven events.
Vaughn made the finals or consolation finals each night of the meet and took fourth place in the 200 I.M. She also finished in the top ten in six other events.
The MSA was competing in the event against 14 other teams in the meet.
