July 8, 2003
With local blood supplies at critically low levels, United Blood Services in Meridian has issued an emergency appeal for donors and is extending hours for collections.
UBS, located at 1115 25th Ave., will be open today through Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.. The center will be open Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
With less than a day's supply of blood available locally and with a shortage nationally, UBS is unable to meet today's requests for blood products. Officials are urging residents to come by the center and donate blood.
Also, the bloodmobile will be at two blood drives scheduled Wednesday and Friday:
Wednesday, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Naval Air Station Meridian, NTTC;
Friday, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Wal-Mart on Highway 19 North.
