Obituaries for Sunday, July 6, 2003

PHILADELPHIA Services for Ed Barnes will be held today at 2 p.m. at Old Mars Hill Pentecostal Church in Winston County with the Rev. Lonoia Burks officiating. Burial will be in Old Mars Hill Cemetery with John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barnes, 87, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Neshoba County Nursing Home. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser and road construction.
Survivors include his sister, Lucille Hughes of Carthage; and several nieces and nephews.
MILLRY, Ala. Services for Ruth Ann Everett Carpenter will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Millry United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ennis Sellers officiating. Burial will be in Millry Cemetery with Phillips Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Carpenter, 93, of Millry, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at Washington County Infirmary in Chatom. She was a retired school teacher for Washington County School Board.
Survivors include her brother, Oscar E. Everett of Norfolk, Va.; sisters, Mary Louise Purnell of Chipley, Fla.; Pearl E. Braun of Jackson; and Betty Sue Smith of Red Level; a step-daughter, Louise Brown of Foley; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark M. Carpenter.
Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
UNION Services for Dr. Jasper D. Moore will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Revs. John Tillery and Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery.
Dr. Moore, 76, of Union, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at his sons home in Woodstock, Ga.
Survivors include his two sons, Johnny Moore and J.D. Moore, both of Woodstock, Ga.; three grandchildren, Dakota Moore, Chellse Moore and Mike Moore; two brothers, Harry Moore of Union; and Willie Bruce Moore of Brandon and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home and three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home for Sheldon Jerome Davis, 31, of Dallas, who died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at his home.
Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Eola Hunt, 81, of Meridian, who died Friday, July 4, 2003, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home for infant Jemarcus Seals who died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson.
