Hathorn, Bulldogs looking to future

By By Richard Dark/The Meridian Star
Feb. 21, 2001
A new era officially began at Clarkdale Attendance Center Tuesday morning with the formal introduction of former Wayne County High defensive coordinator Bubba Hathorn.
Attendance Center Principal Jan Miller and High School Principal Charles King proudly introduced what they hope will be the catalyst for something special in the Bulldog program.
Hathorn met with the players prior to the media to let them know the slate is now clean. He said the initial feedback was quite positive.
Hathorn, who has ties with former head coach Roland Gatlin said he wants to expand on some of the things the Bulldog baseball coach has already implemented this past season.
He also said that like most athletic situations that are in disarray, the problem exists of "athletes" who attend the school but aren't participating.
Miller said Hathorn will come in and work hard and have high expectations.
Clarkdale will compete in a new football division next season with Scott Central, Newton, Kemper County, Williams Sullivan and South Leake. The new MHSAA format which goes into effect this year has four teams out of each Region to the playoff.
