Services for James Woodrow Madison were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Shane Freeman and Bob Followell officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Madison, 87, of Marion, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Benchmark Health Care Center. He was a member and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, where he was also a Sunday school teacher. A native of Kemper County, Madison attended DeKalb High School, Scooba Jr. College and played varsity football and basketball. Madison was in construction and a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kittrell Madison, of Meridian; a sister-in-law, Marbeth McKee and her husband, Clark, of Hattiesburg; 11 nieces and a nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. Madison and Lou Ella; two brothers, Lavern and Kellis Lamar Madison; three sisters, Valeria Madison Bryant, Gladys Madison Lang and Helen Madison Daniels.
Pallbearers will be John Lee Harbour, Bob Harbour, David Ethridge, Jason Ethridge, Don McKee, David McKee and Brad McKee. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
WINNIE PEARL MARTIN LEE
MILLRY, Ala. Services for Winnie Pearl Martin Lee were held Monday at 2 p.m. at North Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Carter officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Phillips Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Lee, 70, of Millry, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at the Mobile Infirmary.
Survivors include her mother, Era Taft Cupp Martin of Millry; two daughters, Cynthia Karen McNab and Pamela Ann Berger, both of Mobile; a brother, W.M. Martin Jr. of Mobile; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Monroe Martin.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

DEKALB Graveside services were held today at 10 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery with the Revs. Steve Lampkin and Jerry Jones officiating with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. DeRonde, 89, of DeKalb, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in DeKalb.
Survivors include her care giver, Doris Creekmore of Lynville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul DeRonde.
The family requests memorials be made to a charity of choice.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Katie M. Benson will be held today at 1 p.m. at Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ray Luke and Kevin Brouillette officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Benson, 86, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at the Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie Branning and Shirley Luke, both of Philadelphia and Vickey Chaneyworth of Frankston, Texas; four sons, John Benson Jr. and Rayburn Benson, both of Philadelphia, Benny Benson of Jackson and Charles Benson of Madison; four sisters, Dot Barnes and Lizzie Edwards, both of Philadelphia, Hazel Edwards of Indianola and Margie Stewart of Jackson; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Benson Sr.

MACON Graveside services for M. Maurine McCord will be held today at 1 p.m. at Oddfellows Cemetery with the Rev. Kim Wolverton officiating with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. McCord, 86, of Macon, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Noxubee General Hospital.
Survivors include two sisters, Floyce M. Lynn of Nashville, Tenn. and Anne M. Reid of Birmingham, Ala.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys M. Silvey.
Visitation will be today from 10 a.m.-noon at the funeral home.

DEKALB Services for Everett Wade Sciple will be held today at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Jones and Don Weber officiating. Burial will be in Chamberlin Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sciple, 80, of DeKalb, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Columbus. He was a member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Franklin Sciple of DeKalb; four sons, Irvin Conner of DeKalb, Warren Conner, Ray Conner and Mark Conner, all of Columbus; a daughter, Marlene Young of DeKalb; three brothers, Jerry Sciple and Joe Sciple, both of DeKalb and Charles Sciple of Starkville; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roy Vandevender, Joe Vandevender, Marion Breckenridge, Wayne Eaves, Ralph Sciple and Eddie Sciple.
Visitation will be today beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
