Rusty Rayborn and the Parklane Pioneers put the Lamar Raiders in a hole in district play with a 6-1 win at Jim Wall Field on Tuesday night.
Rayborn pitched a complete game and struck out nine batters to pick up the win on the mound for the Pioneers. He gave up only two hits for the night.
The Raiders drop to 5-8 on the season and 1-6 in district play after the loss. Lamar will travel to play Parklane on Friday in a district doubleheader.
Parklane threatened early in the game, but Lamar pitcher David Haggard used a double-play with the bases loaded to hold the Pioneers in the first inning.
Parklane took advantage of a Lamar mistake to score in the second inning.
Michael Watts walked with two outs in the inning. Reg Ott followed with a fly ball that was dropped in the outfield to allow Watts to score. Blake Robinson followed with a single to bring in Ott for a 2-0 lead.
Lamar answered with a run in the second inning. Randy Boyd Thompson singled and moved to third on an error. He scored on a wild pitch to make the score 2-1.
Parklane added two runs in the third inning. Rayborn singled and Jeremy Wallace walked. Judd Honea singled to bring in a run and Wallace later scored on a double steal to make the score 4-1.
The Pioneers added a run in the fourth on a single by J.R. Farnham and finished out the scoring with a home run by Robinson in the sixth inning.
Rayborn allowed just one runner in the final four innings, and the Pioneers took the five-run victory.
