RFD, RPD seek community support for Helping Santa toy drive
Once again, the City of Russellville is helping Santa provide new toys for newborns through children age 15. The goal is for no child in Russellville to go without Christmas gifts this year.
“During these rough economic times, we are seeing more and more children that go through Christmas without enough food or clothing or toys,” said RFD Capt. Randy Seal. “We are asking for those who can help to please do so.
“Last year, community donations allowed more than 350 children to have a more enjoyable Christmas. We try to help as many kids as we can.”
Donated toys are organized by age and gender and distributed over three days prior to Christmas.
“We try to take care of everyone in the city on the first day, then the county residents, and on the third day, anybody outside the county who applied, if there are enough donations left,” Seal said. “The community has always been very supportive.”
