Bobcat boys sweep Curry Yellow Jackets
Ridge Raper threw a three-hit shutout to help start a two-game sweep of the Curry Yellow Jackets.
Austen Baker scored first on a Curry balk in the bottom of the first inning to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, Raper singled in Mason Swinney to extend the Bobcats’ lead to 2-0. Raper came around to score to make it 3-0.
Brett Saint singled in Bryant Hyde to give the Bobcats a 4-0 lead. Trey Leindecker singled in Eli Smith to give Phil Campbell a 5-0 lead.
Phil Campbell added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 6-0.
Raper went two-for-three with an RBI and scored a run. Baker scored two runs. Swinney and Hyde also had two-hit days.
Raper pitched a complete game, striking out nine and allowing three hits.
In game two, Phil Campbell won 9-2. The Bobcats scored four runs in the fourth inning, led by Rilan Garrison, Brett Saint, Trey Leindecker and Luke Barnwell, who all drove in runs.
Garrison got the win for the Bobcats, allowing four hits and two runs over three innings.
Phil Campbell collected 12 hits. Hyde, Swinney, Raper and Garrison all had a multi-hit game.
In other action, Phil Campbell beat Haleyville 8-2. Baker had a big game, going three-for-four with an RBI and two runs scored. Swinney and Raper scored two runs each. Swinney earned the win for the Bobcats, going five innings and allowing four hits and two runs while striking out seven.
