Vina gets back on track

The Vina Red Devils picked up a couple of wins last week against Hubbertville and Cherokee to improve to 17-8 on the season.

Vina 69, Hubbertville 45

Kaitlyn King made five three-pointers and scored 19 points to lead the Red Devils past the Hubbertville Lions 69-45.

Vina led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and began to pull away in the second quarter to take a 33-19 halftime lead. Vina scored 29 points in the third quarter to extend that lead to 62-36.

Sara Scott and Kaitlyn Athey scored 14 points and 13 points respectively. Scott pulled down 10 rebounds. Rayleigh Guin added eight points and 14 assists. Hailey Cantrell had eight points, Sarah Harper three points, Abbie Petree two points and Sarah Johnson two points.

Vina 78, Cherokee 23

Vina outscored Cherokee 50-9 in the first half en route to an easy victory.

Guin scored 18 points and hit four three-pointers. Athey added 15 points, also making four threes. Johnson scored 13 points, and LaDava Davis added seven points. Cantrell, Kassidie Gesler and Scott scored five points each.
