Hi folks,

The year 2020 has arrived, and I hope this will be a great year for all.

Many people will make a New Year’s resolution; I have read that two of the more common ones are to lose some weight and to stop smoking. More SlimFast is sold in the month of January than any other month. Most everyone will fail to carry out the resolution very long, but a few will.

I don’t make resolutions anymore, but I can think of a few things I would like to do.

No. 1: Be a better listener. You can learn so much by being a good listener. I have always thought I was a good listener, but I am going to do my best to be even better. Everyone has a story, and they need someone to listen. Feel free to share a good story with me; I promise I will listen and learn.

Jan. 5 was special for me because I had a good lunch with my good friend Thomas Burns Flemings at the Legacy Gas Mart here in Russellville.

I opened my business, Bolton Furniture, in 1976, and Burns was the first customer who made a purchase from me. Since that time he has made several more. I appreciate him so much and count him as one of the best friends ever. I hope and pray we will have many more years to share good memories of days gone by.

Jan. 5 was also the day for a visitation for Mitch Bryant Mitchell at Spry Memorial Chapel.

This visitation said a lot about a fine young man – one of the largest visitations ever at our chapel. Family and friends gathered to pay their respects, and so many good remarks were made about this young man. The family did an excellent job in presenting many pictures of happy days with family and friends alike.

So many lessons can be learned and appreciated about an individual like Mitch Bryant Mitchell.

The funeral service was set for Jan. 6, and although I am writing this before the service takes place, I expect the church building will be filled to full capacity.

I read once a remark that comes to my mind, “Live your like it such a good way that at your funeral there will be standing room only.” I am sure that was the case for Mitch.
