Skeletal remains found in Newton, sheriff says charges are expected

Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight said he is expecting to learn this morning whether the skeletal remains of an apparent homicide victim are those of a missing Arizona man.
The remains were found last week near the Stratton community. They are believed to be those of an Arizona man who has been missing since 1996, but who has relatives in Newton County.
Knight declined to identify the man.
Deputies found skeletal remains, a pistol and two spent rounds on a hillside last week. Knight said he believes someone will be charged in connection with the death in the near future.
Knight said the death is not necessarily believed to have been related to a drug deal, but may have been the result of an argument about drugs.
