Vina falls to Flame
The Vina Red Devils were not able to pull off a homecoming victory, despite a 150-yard rushing night by Elijah Whitfield. The Shoals Christian Flame spoiled Vina’s homecoming, winning 38-18.
“I am proud of the way our guys keep fighting and keep working to get better,” said Vina coach Jason Harris.
Despite the loss, Vina had some bright spots on offense, including the 150-yard rushing performance by Whitfield. Braden Moomaw accounted for two touchdowns – the first on a seven-yard run and the second on a five-yard pass from Moomaw to Isaac Shelton.
Whitfield scored the Red Devils’ final touchdown on a 19-yard run.
Emma Humphres was crowned Vina’s homecoming queen.
Vina will travel to Hackleburg Friday night.
