Dr. Leslie Brooks Gray was among 1,512 initiates from around the world who became Fellows of the American College of Surgeons during convocation ceremonies at the College's recent 88th annual Clinical Congress in San Francisco.
Gray is a native of Meridian and is married to the former Kim Bradford of Meridian. They have three children.
Gray received a medical doctorate in 1992 from Tulane University School of Medicine and is currently practicing at Rush Medical Group in Meridian.
In 1998, he attained a board certification from the American Board of Surgery. Gray has a strong professional interest in vascular surgery and holds membership in other professional societies, including board certification in vascular surgery.
The American College of Surgeons is the largest organization of surgeons in the world. By meeting stringent membership requirements, Fellows of the College have earned the right to use the designation of "F.A.C.S." (Fellow, American College of Surgeons).
An applicant for Fellowship must be a graduate of an approved medical school, have completed advanced training in one of the 14 surgical specialties recognized by the College, and have been in practice in the same geographic location for at least one year at the time of application.
Before admission into Fellowship, the surgeon must further demonstrate ethical fitness and professional proficiency, and his acceptance as a Fellow of the College must be approved by three-fourths of its Board of Regents.
