MPSA stars set to face off tonight

Seven area athletes and two coaches have been selected to participate in the Mississippi Private School Association's annual All-Star Football Game tonight at Mississippi College in Clinton. Kickoff at Robinson-Hale Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
Six of the seven area players picked will play on the North team.
Selected from Academy Class A state champion Heidelberg Academy are wide receiver/defensive back Blake Bass (6-0, 180) and two-way lineman Brannon Sims (6-5, 245). Representing Class A North State runner-up Wayne Academy are tailback/linebacker Matt Brown (5-10, 180) and guard/defensive end Jeremy Carr (5-11, 170). From Leake Academy is wide receiver/defensive back Joshua Chamblee (6-1, 165) and from Winston Academy is wide receiver/running back Lenny Boatner (6-1, 168).
Bass had 33 receptions for 506 yards and nine touchdowns, including a 21-yard touchdown in the Rebels' 27-0 victory over Prentiss Christian School in the Class A championship game.
Chamblee caught 27 passes for 705 yards for Leake. He also ran the ball 40 times for 264 yards. Defensively, he had 52 tackles.
The lone area player on the South squad is fullback/linebacker Monroe Mayfield (6-3, 245) from Lamar.
Heidelberg coach Tom Lewis will be an assistant with the North team along with Skip Moore of MRA and Todd Lott of Washington School. The North head coach is Rick Johnston of North Delta.
Lamar's Mac Barnes is an assistant with the South squad along with Dan Fails of Prentiss Christian and Ricky Black of Jackson Prep. Jason Brabham of Oak Forest is the head coach.
