Scholarship Dinner honors 14
It was a banner night for Russellville City Schools students, faculty and alumni as the RCS Education Foundation held its annual Scholarship Dinner Monday.
The evening serves as the primary fundraiser for the foundation, which provides grants to teachers for classroom needs as well as scholarships to students. Attendees purchase tickets for the banquet, and funds are also raised through silent and Chinese auctions held during the dinner.
Receiving Education Foundation Scholarships were Tiffany Epnett, Mara Fernandez, Nate Franklin, Pedro Lucas, Stephanie Monterroso, Tristan Patrick, Makayla Phifer and Kaidin Wallace. The Raymond Grissom Scholarship was awarded to Slate Wallace. The Patti Kimbrough Scholarship was awarded Leah Nix. The Dr. Wayne Ray Scholarship was awarded to Kyle Tidwell.
New this year was the Dan C. Hindman Star Polisher Award, given to celebrate the dedication of educators to the success of students in Russellville City Schools in honors of former RHS Principal Dan Hindman. The 2017 recipient of this award was Monica Balding.
Every year the Foundation also recognizes a small number of outstanding alumni who demonstrate the tradition of excellence upon which RCS prides itself. This year’s honorees were Lanny Norris and Susan Bradford Hall.
