Chamber, FCDA honor business and industry leaders

Each year, the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and the Franklin County Development Authority unite in a special evening of recognizing the best in individuals, businesses and industries from across the county. This year’s celebration, the Partnership Awards Banquet, was held Thursday, and a slate of local stars were awarded for their efforts in building community and local economy.

In opening remarks, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors President Mark McNatt related the continued growth of the local economy and workforce to the idea of a bridge connecting students to businesses and industry. “You’ve never seen a bridge quite like this one. It will cover the entire county and benefit every resident for years to come,” McNatt said. “This new bridge will hopefully inspire our children by helping them decide what career path they will pursue, give them inspiration to pursue postsecondary education and give them the desire to live and work and raise a family right here in Franklin County.

“It’s time we as business and industry invest in these students who are the future of our county.”

The Chamber of Commerce also announced recipients of $500 mini grants – Red Bay Museum, Dismals Canyon, the Historic Roxy Theatre, Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park and Bear Creek Lakes – and the local tourism sites that will be featured on brand new Franklin County postcards – Dismals Canyon, Red Bay Museum, the Historic Roxy Theatre, Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park, Bear Creek Lakes, Tiffin Motorhomes and the Franklin County Watermelon Festival. “Our goal in each of these projects is to promote Franklin County by building, connecting and discovering,” Chamber Director Cassie Medley explained.

The banquet included dinner provided by Frosty Inn.
