RHS softball plans Spring Frenzy tourney

Russellville High School softball’s annual Spring Frenzy tournament is set for this weekend.

“This is a major fundraiser for our program,” explained Coach Kathryn Montgomery. “It allows the girls to get a lot of local games in and gives us a great opportunity to have visitors on campus and to see our awesome community.”

Varsity, junior varsity and junior high divisions will make up the tournament schedule.

Teams in the junior high tourney will include Phil Campbell, Wilson, Hamilton and Haleyville, in addition to Russellville. The schedule is as follows:

March 10

4:30 p.m. – Russellville versus Phil Campbell

6 p.m. – Wilson versus Hamilton

7:30 p.m. – Haleyville versus Phil Campbell

March 11

8:30 a.m. – Russellville versus Hamilton

10 a.m. – Russellville versus Wilson

11:30 a.m. – Wilson versus Haleyville

1 p.m. – Phil Campbell versus Hamilton

2:30 p.m. – Haleyville versus Russellville (game does not count for Russellville)

In the bracket that follows, teams will play at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The championship game will be at 8:30 p.m.

All junior high games will be played at Tom Strange, 151 Ash Ave.

Junior varsity teams will include Russellville, Haleyville, Florence, Brooks, Hamilton, Hatton and Wilson, playing at the Lee Complex on Highway 24 and at Eastside Ball Park on Park Blvd. The schedule is as follows:

March 10

Lee Complex

4 p.m. – Hatton versus Hamilton

5:20 p.m. – Brooks versus Wilson

6:40 p.m. – Haleyville versus Florence

8 p.m. – Russellville versus Hamilton

March 11

Lee Complex

9 a.m. – Wilson versus Hatton

10:20 a.m. – Hamilton versus Brooks

11:40 a.m. – Wilson versus Russellville (game does not count for Russellville)

1 p.m. – Brooks versus Florence

March 11

Eastside

9 a.m. – Haleyville versus Russellville

10:20 a.m. – Florence versus Russellville

11:40 a.m. – Hatton versus Haleyville

In tournament play at the Lee Complex, teams will play at 2:20 p.m., 3:40 p.m. and 5 p.m. in first-round games. Second round games will be at 6:20 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. The championship game will be at 9 p.m.

In varsity play, Russellville, Hamilton, Decatur Heritage, Haleyville, Wilson and Florence will play at the RHS softball field on Clay Avenue and at Eastside. The schedule will be as follows:

March 10

RHS

4:30 p.m. – Russellville versus Decatur Heritage

6 p.m. – Hamilton versus Decatur Heritage

7:30 p.m. – Russellville versus Hamilton

March 10

Eastside

4:30 p.m. – Haleyville versus Wilson

6 p.m. – Wilson versus Florence

7:30 p.m. – Haleyville to Florence

March 11

RHS

9 a.m. – Russellville versus Haleyville

10:30 a.m. – Hamilton versus Wilson

Noon – Decatur Heritage versus Florence

In tournament play at RHS, teams will play at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. The championship game between the top two teams will be at 7:30 p.m.
