The Belgreen Bulldogs and the Tharptown Wildcats JV baseball teams volleyed the lead seven times March 8, but the Bulldogs came out on top for a 9-4 win.
Belgreen took the lead in the fourth inning and held on to the victory. A walk by Isac Willingham scored Kostner Bryant and gave the Bulldogs the lead for good. Kenny Arnett racked up four RBI on two hits for the Bulldogs. He singled in the first and tripled in the fifth. Scout Bragwell recorded the W for the Belgreen Bulldogs. He allowed four runs over four innings. He struck out six, walked three and surrendered three hits. Willingham closed the contest in the fifth and recorded the save.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Arnett scored Bryant to start the inning. Tharptown survived the surge and put up one run of their own in the bottom of the first. Belgreen got two-run rallies in the second and the fifth. Jose Sagastume drew a bases-loaded walk, and Brady Hovater walked in for the score.
“This is another great night for our baseball team as they got their second win of the season. Scout Bragwell did a fantastic job pitching tonight getting his first win. Several Bulldogs exceled at the plate, driving in the runs needed for another W,” expressed Head Coach Derek Ergle.
