West Lauderdale falls to Greene Co.

Unbeaten Greene County shrugged off an early deficit scoring 26 points in the second half to beat visiting West Lauderdale 32-10 on Friday night in Leakesville.
Greene County improves to 7-0 while West Lauderdale falls to 1-6.
The Knights took a 3-0 lead when Michael Pogue booted a 20-yard field goal.
Greene County came back getting an 11-yard run by Jamel Scott to take a 6-3 lead after one quarter.
It stayed that way until the third quarter when Scott scored on an 8-yard run. Chuck Ross ran in the two-point conversion for a 14-3 lead.
Carlos Moody then scored on a 9-yard TD run to make it 20-3. The Knights answered with quarterback C. Jay Fountain hitting Carlessio Blanks on a 79-yard swing pass. Pogue's kick made it 20-10 early in the fourth quarter.
Greene County closed out the game with two touchdowns. Jason Anderson scored both TDs on runs of 1 and 29 yards.
Northeast Jones 33
NE Lauderdale 22
Visiting Northeast Lauderdale had a 14-7 lead against Northeast Jones but couldn't make it hold and eventually fell to the Tigers 33-22 on Friday night in Jones County.
The loss drops the Trojans to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in Region 5-4A play. Northeast Jones moves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the region.
Marcus Betts scored the Trojans' opening touchdown on a 38-yard run. Hector Rodiguez had the kick.
Northeast Jones answered with a 6-yard run by Larry Campbell. The Trojans bounced back getting a touchdown pass to Rod Wilson from Maurice Carlisle. Rodiguez' kick made it 14-7.
The Tigers got touchdown runs of 17 and 7 yards from Campbell to reclaim the lead at 19-14 heading into halftime.
Two touchdown runs of 3 and 1 yards by Reed put the Tigers up 33-14 in the third quarter. Betts pulled Northeast back to within 11 at 33-22 after scoring on a 4-yard run.
Quitman 27
Florence 12
Two touchdown passes by Jonathan Russell led the Quitman Panthers to a key 27-12 Region 5-4A win on the road over Florence on Friday night.
Russell connected with Roderick Laphand on TD passes of 25 and 60 yards to erase a 9-0 Florence lead after one quarter.
Russell made both PAT kicks to give the now 3-4 Panthers a 14-9 lead in the second quarter.
Russell then added a 3-yard TD run in the third quarter to boost the Panthers to a 20-9 advantage. A fumble recovery in the endzone by Brandon Lee accounted for Quitman's final touchdown. Russell's kick made it 27-12.
Florence got two field goals from Johnson one in the first and the other in the fourth quarter to go with a 58-yard TD pass.

Newton Academy 15
University Christian improved to 5-3 with a 49-15 win over Newton Academy on Friday in Newton.
The Generals scores came on a 65-yard TD run by Dustin McGowin and a 40-yard TD pass by Lee Blackburn.
