East Franklin Junior High School receives $5,000 grant
by Staff Reports
East Franklin Jr. High School received a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for their playground project.
Lowe’s awarded East Franklin the funding for the playground project. The grant application was based on the goal of updating outdated and unsafe playground equipment. The school said they are excited to share the new playground with the Franklin County community.
The playground renovations will improve the appearance of the school and will hopefully encourage students to play and lead more healthy lifestyles, according to officials.
The school plans to remove unsafe trees and roots on the playground, add rubber mulch to replace washed away mulch, and add new equipment for the students. The school said it is expecting plenty of community involvement and parental help with this project. The projected completion date is by the summer of 2015.
The school and community will greatly benefit from this grant, according to officials.
“We wish to thank our friends at Lowe’s for generously supporting this important project,” officials said.
All K-12 public schools in the United States are eligible for the Toolbox for Education program. More information is available at www.ToolboxforEducation.com.
