Lady Bulldogs pick up area wins
The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs picked up area wins on the road last week.
The Bulldogs defeated Hackleburg 4-3 and Phillips 16-5.
The Bulldogs faced the Hackleburg Panthers last Wednesday. Belgreen got on the scoreboard first when Laken Bragwell scored on an RBI single by Cortny Williams to make the score 1-0 in the top of the first inning. The Panthers took the lead with runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings.
The Bulldogs fought back in the top of the sixth inning, when the Bragwell sisters, Laken and Allyson, scored on RBI singles by Williams and Shellie Barber. The Bulldogs added another run on a sacrifice fly.
Laken Bragwell struck out 14 in the game increasing her season total to 169.
Last Thursday, the Bulldogs faced Phillips and made quick work of the Bears.
After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, the Bulldogs increased their score when Barber scored on a sacrifice fly by Camie Terrell. Ana Humphres scored on an RBI single by Sklyer Nelson to make the score 5-2 Bulldogs.
Cortny Williams stroked a three-run home run in the top of the fifth to extend the Bulldog lead to 8-2.
Later in the top of the sixth, Nelson doubled in two runs and another run was added on a walk. Laken Bragwell added an RBI single to make the score 13-2. Laken Bragwell struck out eight in the contest.
