Father, son arrested for thefts
A local father and son duo were arrested this past week after authorities connected them to recent burglaries in the Russellville area, officials said.
Skylar Shane Vandiver, 20, 86 Thomas Dr., Russellville, was arrested on charges of first-degree theft of property, second-degree theft of property, third-degree burglary, and second-degree possession of marijuana.
Michael Shane Vandiver, 42, with the same address, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property and second-degree possession of marijuana.
According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, investigators had received reports of two separate break-ins that occurred on the west side of Russellville last Sunday.
During the investigation, Hargett said both Skylar Vandiver and Michael Vandiver were developed as suspects.
Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said Skylar Vandiver was the one who allegedly stole various electronics, guns, wiring and other items from the residences that were burglarized.
Lowery said his father, Michael Vandiver, allegedly sold the copper wiring and other items that had been taken during the break-ins.
Michael Vandiver has been released on bail. Skylar Vandiver is still in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $4,000 bond.
