Lady Tigers win county championship yet again

Championship Game: Red Bay 52, Tharptown 27
Another Franklin County tournament yields yet another Franklin County championship for the Red Bay Lady Tigers as they cruised past Tharptown in the 52-27 victory.
Red Bay outscored Tharptown in each of the four quarters Saturday night to capture their 15th Franklin County championship in the past 16 years.
Red Bay led Tharptown 27-15 at the half. The Tigers held the Wildcats to only three points in the third quarter extending their lead to 42-18 as they coasted to the championship in the fourth quarter.
Morgan Pierce and Darby Madden led the Tigers with 11 and 10 points respectively. Others scoring for the Tigers were Kasey Sparks (8), Allie Kennedy (8), Carlee Berry (5), Jade Faulkner (3), Hannah McKinney (2), Elizabeth Wooten (2), and Katie Burks (1).
Kaitlyn Vandiver led the Wildcats with nine points. She was followed by Kamri Sears (7), Savannah Hamilton (4), Kathy Alfaro (3), Danielle Creasy (2), and Brooke Daniel (2).
Semi-Finals: Red Bay 60, Phil Campbell 38
The top-seeded Red Bay Tigers outscored the Phil Campbell Bobcats 34-16 in the first half of Thursday’s semi-finals and coasted to the win.
Red Bay had two scorers in double-figures: Elizabeth Wooten scored 15 points and Kasey Sparks scored 11 points. Other Lady Tigers in the scoring column were Allie Kennedy (8), Darby Madden (8), Carlee Berry (7), Morgan Pierce (6), Danielle Hastings (3), and Hannah McKinney (2).
Taylor Pace led Phil Campbell with 14 points. Other Bobcats in the scoring column were Tori Pace (8), Vickie McAlister (6), Madison Hardy (5), Elizabeth Benford (3), and Courtney Baker (2).
Semi-Finals: Tharptown 45, Belgreen 25
The Tharptown Wildcats led the Belgreen Bulldogs by one, 11-10, at the end of the first quarter but built on that lead in each quarter of their semi-final game.
The Wildcats built a four-point lead by halftime to make the score 20-16. In the second half, the Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs 25-9 to help them advance to the finals and play top-seed Red Bay.
Kamri Sears led Tharptown with 12 points. Others scoring for the Wildcats were Haley Malone (7), Savannah Hamilton (4), Kaitlyn Vandiver (6), Danielle Creasy (8), and Brooke Daniel (8).
Jasmine Martin led Belgreen with nine points followed by Laken Bragwell (8), Allyson Bragwell (6), and Lexie Bragwell (2).
Quarter-Finals: Phil Campbell 59, Vina 25
In the first game of the varsity girl’s division of the Franklin County Tournament, the Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 44-18 halftime lead and coasted to a victory over the Vina Lady Red Devils.
Phil Campbell had two scorers in double-figures: Vickie McAlister and Taylor Pace scored 16 points each. Also scoring for Phil Campbell was Leah Gunderman (7), Courtney Baker (4), Tori Pace (3), Madison Hardy (1).
Morgan Humphres was Vina’s only player in double-figures with 10 points. Others scoring were Miranda Howard (7), Sydney Upton (4), Fallyn Shots (2), and Skyler Smith (2).
