Susan Joy Smith of Cuba, Ala., and Richard Alan Smith of Decatur were married Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Cuba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ernie Nelson officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Billy Smith of Cuba, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Smith of Decatur.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Smith of Meridian and the Winogene Smith; W.B. Tims of Cuba and the late Annie Maude Tims.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Edwin and Evie Smith of Decatur, and the late Lee and Maude Terrell of Union.
Nuptial music was provided by Linda Miller, pianist; Linda Truelove, organist; Louise Boney and Susan Fox, vocalists.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a satin gown with an embroidered and rhinestone-studded bodice.
The flared skirt was floor-length with a pleated sweep train that was accented with embroidery and rhinestones. Her chapel-length veil was anchored by a rhinestone tiara. She carried a bouquet of pure white Asiatic lilies and white larkspur, detailed with ivy.
Matron of honor was Scarlett Stockton of Lauderdale. Other attendants were Melanie Broom of Pearl and Hayley Reeves of Meridian, niece of the bridegroom.
Stacy Simmons of Enterprise served as best man.
Groomsmen and ushers were Keith Reeves of Starkville, nephew of the bridegroom, Skipper Harrison of Union, Brian Smith of Cuba, brother of the bride, and Mac Canon of Charlotte, N.C., cousin of the bridegroom.
A reception was held at the church following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Betsy Holcombe, Kathy Truelove, Kim Minshew and Judy Williams. Following the reception the couple left in a closed horse drawn carriage.
After a honeymoon in Orange Beach, Ala., the couple resides in Collinsville.
