Mr. and Mrs. Mack Alford of Philadelphia announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Michelle, to Joseph Glenn Walker, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Gary Walker of Columbus.
The wedding will be Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Beacon Street Baptist Church in Philadelphia.
Miss Alford is the granddaughter of the Rev. and Mrs. J.B. Costilow of Newton, Susie Mae Alford of Philadelphia and the late Homer Alford.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Philadelphia High School and received a bachelor's degree in education, graduating magna cum laude, from the Mississippi University for Women. She plans to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in the fall.
While attending MUW, she was a member of the Baptist Student Union, Kappa Delta Epsilon, Phi Beta Kappa, Kappa Pi, and Epsilon of Mississippi.
Mr. Walker is the grandson of Mary D. Walker and the late J.C. Walker, and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall F. Griffin, all of Macon, Ga.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Ala., and received a degree in management information systems from Mississippi University for Women.
While at MUW, he was a member of the Baptist Student Union. Mr. Walker is employed by Columbus Municipal School District.
A reception will be held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony.
