25th anniversary
Rodney and Mary Kay Daniels celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on June 23, 2002. They have two children Justin and Jacob Daniels. The couple was honored with a anniversary dinner in the home of Mrs. Daniels' sister, Tabitha Blue and her children, Jessica and Jackson Blue.
25th anniversary
A reception celebrating the 25th wedding anniversary of Joe and Linda Jackson will be held July 6, 2002, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. They were married April 2, 1977. The Jacksons have hosted 17 different exchange students from Europe and South America. Family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
50th anniversary
Phillip and Johnnie Lee Nichols recently celebrate their 50th anniversary. They were married July 1, 1952. Phillip is a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart for service in Vietnam. Johnnie Lee was a hairstylist for more than 40 years and retired as senior cosmetologist from East Mississippi State Hospital. They have three children, BeLinda, Anthony and Michael; and a granddaughter, Karmyn.
50th anniversary
The children of Bill and Harriett Rouse will host a 50th wedding anniversary reception on Saturday, July 6, at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. The couple was married July 4, 1952. Their children are, Linda Goffrier, Bill Rouse, Martin Rouse, Melissa O'Flinn and Nell Mathis and the late Phillip Rouse. They have nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mr. Rouse served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. He retired in Meridian in 1971.
60th anniversary
Jeff D. and Juanice Fountain will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2002. They have one son, Jeffrey and his wife, Cassandra; three grandchildren, Stacey and Gregg Allman, Bradley and Jackye Fountain and C. Jay Fountain; and one great-grandchild, Steven Barber. The Fountains have lived in Meridian since Mr. Fountain's retirement after more than 30 years from the U.S. Army. They are members of Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church.
50th anniversary
Jack and Valelis Nelson Crosby of Lake will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception on Sunday, July 14, 2002, from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Hazel Baptist Church. The reception will be hosted by their children, Sandra and Ted Johnson of Lake, and Patricia and Jimmy Gaines of Decatur. Family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
50th anniversary
The children of Mary and James G. "Jimmie" Mitchell Sr. will host a reception celebrating their parents 50th anniversary on July 6, 2002, at State Boulevard Baptist Church Family Life Center from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. The couple was married July 10, 1952, in Quitman. They have five children, Cynthia Touchton, James Gilmer Mitchell Jr., Harvey Mitchell, Robert Mitchell and Terry Sanford. The couple requests no gifts.
25th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jackson recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to New Orleans and a Caribbean cruise to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The couple was married June 10, 1977, at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church. They have two daughters, Leanne and Lesa Jackson of Meridian. Mr. Jackson is employed as the engineering manager of Structural Steel Services. Mrs. Jackson, the former Jennifer Lynn Freeman, teaches kindergarten at Newton Elementary School.
