RPD looking into business break-ins

The Russellville Police Department is seeking information that will lead to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible for two seemingly related burglaries in the past two weeks.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said both burglaries, one that took place Dec. 3 at O’Reilly Auto Parts on U.S. 43 and one that took place late Saturday night at Fred’s on U.S. 43, have similar elements that have led police to believe the crimes are related.

“Both of these burglaries took place at businesses and both businesses had holes cut into the building where the person or persons responsible for the burglary gained entry,” Hargett said.

At the burglary at O’Reilly Auto Parts, Hargett said the items stolen included high-price car batteries and other high-price car parts as well as deposits from the store’s safe.

Hargett said at the Fred’s break-in, the safe was taken, the security cameras and surveillance videos were stolen, wiring to the phone and alarm systems was cut, and other items such as deodorant and cigarette products were taken.

“We want to get these theft and burglary cases solved and get these people off the street before any more businesses are affected by this,” Hargett said.

Anyone with any information regarding these two crimes is asked to call the Russellville Police Department at 256-332-2230. People can also provide anonymous tips through the RPD’s website at www.russellvillepd.org.
