Lamar School honors athletes

Lamar School held its Athletic Awards Recognition Program on Thursday day to recognize all the athletes that competed this past season.
Myleia Shirley was selected as the Female Senior Athlete of the Year while J. Grantham was named the Male Senior Athlete of the Year.
The James H. (Jim) Ward Girls' Soccer Memorial Award went to Baleigh Barham.
The following awards were given for Boys' Basketball: Justin Mitchell, Raider Award; David Haggard, Most Valuable Player; Will Carter, Most Improved; Jace Hill, Best Offensive Player; and Cooper Huff, Best Defensive Player.
The following awards were given for Girls' Basketball: Summer Richie, Raider Award; Myleia Shirley, Most Valuable Player; Keely Phillips, Most Improved; Libby Huff, Best Offensive Player; and Erin Ready, Best Defensive Player.
The following awards were awarded for Boys' Cross Country: J. Grantham, Raider Award and Most Valuable Runner; Ian Hajek, Lowest Point Total; Justin Mitchell, Most Improved; and David Culpepper, Most Dedicated.
Awards in Girls' Cross Country were given to the following: Libby Huff, Raider Award; Lisa Swartzfager, Most Valuable Runner; Holly Corbitt, Lowest Point Total; Brittany Sherrill, Most Improved; and Jamie Henderson, Most Dedicated.
The following awards were give for Boys' Soccer: Latham Farley, Raider Award; Dave Hicks, Most Valuable Player; Tommy Edgerton, Most Improved; Randy Boyd Thompson, Best Offensive Player; and Heath Rush, Best Defensive Player.
The following awards were awarded for Girls' Soccer: Lisa Swartzfager, Raider Award; Cheryl Luquire, Most Valuable Player; Lizzie Williams, Most Improved; Amy Swartzfager, Best Offensive Player; and Emily Thompson, Best Defensive Player.
Awards were given the the following Football players: Stanton Lauderdale, Raider Award; Teddy Yeatman, Off-Season Award; Zach Moore, Most Valuable Player; Drew Moffett, Most Outstanding Offensive Player; Monroe Mayfield, Most Outstanding Defensive Player; and Vaughn Waters, Most Outstanding Lineman.
Awards in golf were given to the following: John Thomas Williamson, Raider Award; Winston Powell, Player of the Year; and Leigh Phillips, Most Improved.
The following awards were given for Boys' Track: Dave Hicks, Raider Award; Ian Hajek, Most Outstanding Distance Runner; and J. Grantham, Most Outstanding Runner.
Awards were given to the following in Girls' Track: Libby Huff, Raider Award; and Holly Corbitt, Most Outstanding Runner.
The following awards were given for Boys' Tennis: Pat Phillippi, Raider Award; Stanton Lauderdale, Most Valuable Player; Danny Russell, Most Improved; and Frank Marascalco, Team Spirit Award.
Awards were given to the following Girls' Tennis players: Katie Pearson, Raider Award; Lisa Swartzfager, Most Valuable Player; Kelsey Cobb, Most Improved; and Amy Swartzfager, Team Spirit Award.
The following awards were given for Baseball: Monroe Mayfield, Raider Award and Most Valuable Player and Best Offensive Player; Parker Payne, Most Improved; David Haggard, Most Outstanding Pitcher; and Nick Lisi, Best Defensive Player.
Awards were given to the following Softball players: Myleia Shirley, Raider Award; Lizzie Williams, Most Valuable Player; Brittany Payne, Most Improved; Celia Covington, Best Defensive Player; and Summer Richie, Best Offensive Player.
