Belgreen beats Vina for Homecoming win

The Belgreen varsity girls celebrated Homecoming with a win over county rival Vina 53-35.

Vina started off hot, taking a 20-17 lead in the first quarter but cooled off as the game progressed and the Bulldog defense took hold. Belgreen outscored Vina 16-7 in the second quarter to take a 33-27 halftime lead. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 47-30 at the end of the third quarter and put the game away in the fourth.

Dacota Green led Belgreen with 19 points, scoring 11 of the Bulldogs 16 second quarter points. Makena Fisher followed Green with 14 points.

Bryn Scott added nine points, Lilliana Willingham seven points, Morgan Lauderdale three points and Carson Hovater one point.

Vina’s Layla Hester led all scorers with 19 points, scoring 12 in the first half. Lana Bell and Kaley Attaway scored six points each, Mackenzie Elrod four points, Braxton Quinn two points and Khylee Brooks one point.

Belgreen used a strong fourth quarter to squeeze out a win over Brilliant 55-53.

Isabella Tate scored all ten of her points in the critical fourth quarter for the Bulldogs.

Belgreen fell behind 18-12 in the first quarter and trailed 27-21 at halftime. The Tigers maintained their lead 40-34 at the end of the third quarter.

Tate and the Bulldogs got hot in the fourth quarter, outscoring Brilliant 21-13 to get the win.

Dacota Green and Carson Hovater led Belgreen with 12 points each. Makenna Fisher matched Tate with ten points. Bryn Scott added five points.
