Hodges will be a happening place Saturday with the return of the town’s Spirit of Hodges Festival.
The festival this year is coordinated in part by the Volunteer Fire Department, working together with festival volunteers from year’s past. The day’s activities will include everyone’s festival favorites, like a car and tractor show, 50-50 drawing, inflatables for the children, food vendors and – particularly relevant to Hodges, with the growing popularity of the equestrian park – a horseshoe pitching contest.
“Everything will be centered around the music,” said Ron Coats, one of this year’s coordinators.
Live music will gear up at 9 a.m. to kick off the festival and continue throughout the day.
9 a.m. – Renegade Jane
10 a.m. – Trinity Believers
11 a.m. – Hill Country
noon – First Born Sons
1 p.m. – Splunge Creek Bluegrass
2 p.m. – Brooklyn Hall
3 p.m. – Eagle Wings
4 p.m. – Renegade Jane
Food vendors will offer pork skins, funnel cakes, chipped ice cones, hotdogs, hamburgers, smoked chicken and barbecue. Vendors will also be on hand selling handcrafted items and sundries.
The festival will be held at the town park, with the car show just east of the community center at the Cap West Park.
Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Visit The Spirit of Hodges Festival on Facebook or website spiritofhodges.com. For more information call Town Hall, 205-935-3445, or Carla Wood, 205-528-1154, or email fun@spiritofhodges.com.
“It’s just a chance to spend a nice fall day, have a good meal and support the Hodges Fire and Rescue,” Coats said.
