The (X) factor

By Staff
Jerry Fancher
Is this the year that many Franklin County voters will mark the (X) above the Republican candidates?
With strong Republican candidates from the top to the bottom of the ballot, will Franklin County Democrats send the message to the Court House, to the State House, and White House that the Democratic Party has left them?
We have two of the most powerful members of the Alabama Legislature representing Franklin County.
This year they passed legislation that sets up a political slush fund by creating a commission to expend the additional TVA in lieu of tax monies that were previously spent by the Franklin County Commission.
They have not allowed the governor's proposal to reappraise property every four years to come to a vote.
If you would like to see what bills Senator Bedford and Representative Morrow have introduced, it is available on the internet.
You might be surprised at some of the bills they have introduced. You can find them by searching for "Alabama Legislature Alison". Turn off your pop up blockers and follow the links.
When you compare John McCain, Jeff Sessions, and Robert Aderholt at the top of the Republican ballot to the names that will be at the top of the Democratic ballot, the decision on which side to vote will be easy.
Franklin County Democrats can send a message that they are tired of the Democratic leadership taking them for granted by marking the (X) over the Republican ballot. This is the one message that all politicians understand.
By voting straight Republican, you can be assured that your voice will be heard from the Courthouse, to the State House, to the White House.
Candidate qualifying ends at 5:00 PM on April 4. You still have time to qualify to run for one of the offices.
You can make a difference in our county's future.
Decision time is near.
Will your voice be a whisper or will you shout out your convictions? It is time that we stand for something and quit falling for everything. Make your vote count this year.
