Victor F. Johnson remained in custody today after being charged with kidnapping a 14-year-old boy Monday near the intersection of 36th Avenue and Fifth Street.
Dean Harper, a spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said Johnson allegedly gave the child a ride and then refused to let him out of the vehicle. The boy escaped unharmed.
Harper said the boy did not know Johnson, who was apprehended within 15 minutes. Johnson is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Lauderdale County Court on Thursday.
Harper also said more charges could be pending against Johnson. Harper, though, said he could not release any further details about the case.
