Lamar clashes with Prep

The Lamar Raiders are off to a fast start in boys' soccer this season, but the big test will come tonight.
The Patriots of Jackson Prep will come into Meridian tonight to take on the Raiders in a huge division matchup at 6 p.m.
Both teams come into the game undefeated. Jackson Prep has won every game this season while the Raiders are 4-0-1 on the year.
Much of the success for the Raiders had come through very solid defense despite a couple of injuries in the back. Latham Farley and Dave Hicks have both been hampered with ankle injuries the past week or so, but will be back for the game against Prep.
Seventh-grader Logan Rush has been filling in for the Raiders and has been very strong. Lane Rush has also stepped in after an early season injury to help Lamar.
The midfield for Lamar has been able to control much of the action. Drew Moffett and Wilson Kahlmus lead the midfield for the Raiders.
Randy Boyd Thompson had been the leader for the offense. The junior striker is the leading scorer on the team.
The Raiders have come through with some big wins the season, including a 3-1 victory over Jackson Academy. Lamar comes into the matchup with a 4-0 division record and can get closer to locking up first place in the south with a victory.
After the big matchup with Prep, Lamar will take on Chamberlain Hunt, Central Hinds, University Christian, Parklane and Copiah to finish out division play.
