Daughters of Elk issue invitation to tea

Meridian's Daughters of Elk chapter, R.B. Matthews Temple No. 739, will host its annual tea Saturday and Sunday.
This year's special guest will be Cedonia Hunt of Clarksdale, first vice president of Mississippi State Association of Elks Daughters Auxiliary.
Hunt is a motivational speaker. She lectures and travels promoting the ideals of Elkdom, conducting workshops and promoting the motto "sisterly and brotherly love."
On Saturday, a pre-tea "Showcase of Elegance" trunk sale featuring Brenda's from Clarksdale will be held from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. in the private lounge at the Elks lodge. In addition to the tea on Sunday at 5 p.m., a fall and winter showing will be presented and refreshments will be served.
Locally, members of R.B. Matthews Temple No. 739 participate in community service projects which include providing school supplies, visiting nursing home residents, contributing toiletries to local men's shelters, preparing and providing Thanksgiving dinner for senior citizens and providing scholarships to deserving students.
