The state Welcome Center on I-20 in Toomsuba will be closed most of next week to allow for replacement of the roof, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said Friday. The roofing job is part of a near-total renovation project that state officials say will vastly enhance the appeal of the Welcome Center to visitors traveling through the Meridian area. The center will close at 4 p.m. on Monday and is expected to re-open at 4 p.m. on Thursday. An MDOT spokesman said signs will be posted alerting motorists to the closure.
