A road crew from the city of Meridian removed a tree from the 1800 block of 29th Avenue on Tuesday.
Paul Latham, the crew's supervisor, said the street had caved in on a storm drain. He said the tree created a "dangerous situation and needed to be removed in order to fix the drain."
Crew member Johnny B. Brown said storm drain will be repaired and then the street will be resurfaced. Latham said it could be Friday before the closed-off section 29th Avenue is open to traffic again.
