Three more teams eliminated

And then there were three.
Three teams were eliminated in exciting action on Monday in the Cal Ripken 10-year-old state tournament at Phil Hardin Park.
Orange Grove eliminated Jefferson Davis County 16-2 in the first game of the day. North Jackson won 12-3 to send Stone County packing and in the most exciting game of the day, Orange Grove eliminated North Jackson 7-6.
Today's action will start with an elimination game between Vicksburg and Orange Grove at 5 p.m. The winner will then have to beat Meridian twice to win the state championship. The first game with Meridian will be at 7:30 p.m. The if game will be on Wednesday.

North Jackson 6
Orange Grove scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 6-5 deficit and defeat North Jackson 7-6.
Joey Lacy and Dustin Maulden singled to start the inning. After a strikeout and a wild pitch gave Orange Grove runners at second and third with one out, Josh Garcia hit a groundball to short. The shortstop looked at home and threw wildly to first allowing both runs to come in and score.
North Jackson started off the game with three runs in the first, two of which scored on a homer by Peyton Johnson, and two runs in the second to take an early lead.
Orange Grove answered with four in the bottom of the second and a run in the third to tie the game at five. North Jackson scored a run in the fourth to take the one-run lead, but could not hold on in the bottom of the last inning.
DeOrco Bridges had a double for Orange Grove while Michael McLarty and Taylor Crasto had two singles each for North Jackson.

Stone County 3
North Jackson scored runs in every inning to eliminate Stone County 12-3.
Stone County opened the game with two runs in the top of the first, but North Jackson answered with two in the first and three in the second. North Jackson also scored two in the third and five in the fourth to put the game away.
Wally Wells had a home run for North Jackson. Taylor Crasto had three singles and Keith Shumaker had two singles. Brian Planch added a double in the win.
Michael McLarty picked up the win on the mound while Scott Thames ended with the loss.
Orange Grove 16
Jefferson Davis County 2
Orange Grove pounded the baseball and eliminated Jefferson Davis County 16-2 in the first game of the day.
Orange Grove scored seven runs in the second inning to blow the game open and scored six in the fourth to put the game away. Orange Grove had 14 total hits in the game.
Jefferson Davis County scored a run in each of the first two innings and ended the game with six hits.
Kyle Prewett had two singles for Orange Grove. Joey Harris and Dalton Parker each had two doubles. Willie Walker had a single and a double while Carter Griffith and Dylan Bond each had a single and double each.
Nino Jackson had two singles for Jeff Davis. William Daley had a double while Joshua Griffith had a single and double.
Parker picked up the win on the mound for Orange Grove while Carvey Magee was credited with the loss.
