Cats' Ross, Sullivan step down

By By Austin Bishop/EMG regional sports director
Mar. 2, 2002
After five years with the same leadership, the Meridian High School soccer program is about to change directions.
In the space of two weeks the boys and girls soccer coaches have stepped down, leaving MHS athletic director Billy Burnham with two critical positions to fill.
Girls head coach Pat Ross has stepped down after nine years of involvement with the MHS soccer program to become an assistant principal at Northwest Junior High School, while boys head coach Mike Sullivan resigned in an effort to move closer to the Jackson area for family reasons.
Sullivan said he has seen the growth in high school soccer since he has been in the business and expects it to continue.
Last year's team had three seventh grade starters and "a ton of sophomores," Ross said.
Ross came to MHS from Quitman High School.
