Alecia Crawford is the newest participant in efforts to improve economic development in Meridian and Lauderdale County.
Crawford recently became Mississippi Power Co.'s economic development representative for its Meridian division. Previously, she spent two years as manager of the company's Bay St. Louis office.
Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Co., serves more than 192,000 customers in 23 counties in southeast Mississippi including Meridian and parts of Lauderdale County.
Kurt Brautigam, spokesman for Mississippi Power Co., said Crawford brings "outstanding skills and experience to her new role in the Meridian area."
Crawford joined Mississippi Power in 1996 as a residential marketing representative. She said her economic development background and communications skills will help in her job.
Crawford, a graduate of Sam Houston State University, will support the recruitment and retainment efforts of local and state economic development agencies.
She already has started working on economic development projects, she said, but could not release any specifics.
