West Lauderdale eyes fast-paced offense

Don't plan on watching the West Lauderdale Knights walk the ball up the floor a lot this year. At least not if they can help it.
Knights' coach Duran Clark hopes his team can get the ball up the floor and in the net as quickly as possible.
Expected to draw starting assignments are 6-foot-1 junior Calvin Moore, 6-foot junior Boo Ramsey, 5-foot-8 junior Carlos Lewis, 5-foot-10 senior Andre Adams, and 5-foot-8 senior Chuck Brewer.
The long-range bombers are back again. Moore averaged 24 points last year and Ramsey averaged 16 as the Knights went 17-16.
Van Wilson was expected to start, but will miss the entire season after undergoing knee surgery following an injury suffered during football season early this fall.
The two sophomores are Lee Nelson and Kaolin Boyd.
The Knights compete in Division 5-3A with Carthage, Choctaw Central, Heidelberg, Newton County, Philadelphia, and Southeast Lauderdale.
The 5-3A league will have one major difference this winter.
The Knights open their 2001-02 season Saturday at home against Northeast Lauderdale. They'll travel to Kemper County on Nov. 13 before playing in the Lauderdale County Tournament at Meridian Community College next week.
They'll also play in a Christmas tournament at Jackson.
