Cassreino, veteran journalist, joins The Meridian Star

Veteran journalist Terry R. Cassreino has been named assistant managing editor of The Meridian Star, it was announced today by Editor Buddy Bynum.
Bynum said Cassreino, 40, will work as the day-to-day newsroom manager, directing reporters and photographers to enhance the depth and scope of news coverage.
Cassreino comes to The Star after serving as managing editor of the Madison County Journal, a weekly newspaper based in the suburban Jackson city of Ridgeland.
Cassreino worked for more than 15 years with The Sun Herald in Biloxi including 13 years in Jackson as the paper's Capitol Bureau Chief, where he covered the Mississippi Legislature, state government and politics. He has received numerous honors during his newspaper career, including Mississippi Press Association and Common Cause Mississippi awards for investigative reporting in 1993 that uncovered questionable ethical behavior by lobbyists and state legislators.
Cassreino also was awarded a Knight-Ridder/Duke University Visiting Media Fellowship in September 1994. Cassreino spent a month at Duke University studying government policy and working with the student media. He also serves on the advisory board of Mississippi Catholic, a weekly newspaper published by the Catholic Diocese of Jackson.
Cassreino, a New Orleans native and 1985 Ole Miss graduate, is married to the former Pam Vance of Canton.
