An automobile accident Friday morning in Neshoba County left a Philadelphia mother dead and her two children in critical condition.
Patrol officer Vince Carter of the Neshoba County Sheriff's Department said Stacy Moore, 28, died in a one-vehicle accident about 8 a.m. on County Road 355. Her vehicle left the road and struck a tree, he said.
Moore's two children, both between 7 and 8 years of age, were transported to University Medical Center in Jackson, where they remained in critical but stable condition as of 3 p.m. Friday, Carter said. One of the children is on life support, he said.
Carter said Moore worked at a child care center. She was wearing a seat belt and her two children were restrained at the time of the accident.
Meridian accident
In a separate accident, a 68-year-old Meridian woman was severely injured late Friday morning when her Chevrolet Blazer overturned in a two-car accident at the intersection of 40th Avenue and 26th Street.
Lt. Wade Johnson of the Meridian Police Department said the accident happened shortly after 11 a.m.
The accident occurred when a 1997 green Chevrolet Blazer driven by Barbara Haguewood, 68, of Meridian, collided with a 2000 red Chevrolet S-10 pick-up driven by 16-year-old Sara Vaughn, Johnson said.
He said preliminary investigation indicates Haguewood was traveling east on 26th Street. Vaughn, with a 15-year-old passenger, was traveling south on 40th Avenue.
The Blazer overturned after impact, Johnson said, and Haguewood was transported to Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center with severe injuries. A hospital spokesman said Haguewood was transferred to St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson for further treatment.
The two teen-agers were also transported to Jeff Anderson, where they were treated and released.
Johnson said the MPD's Advanced Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
