Four local golfers competed over the weekend in the Regional Optimist Golf Championship held at the Mississippi State University golf course in Starkville.
Coming away with first and second place were Daniel Boles with a 73-69 and Clinton Hales with a 79-67. Boles and Hales have both signed with coach Lou Hart's Meridian Community College golf team.
Also competing were Ole Miss signee Reid Davis (76-74) from Lamar Academy and West Lauderdale standout Matt Smith (79-76).
Scores were high the first day, but took a turn for the better on the second day of play.
Boles and Hales will compete for the National Championship July 18-22 in Palm Beach, Fla.
