No waterslide at Archusa

QUITMAN The Pat Harrison Waterways District will not be constructing a waterslide at the Archusa Waterpark, as had been announced earlier.
Pat Harrison executive director Chris Bowen said potential usage would not support the slide.
Pat Harrison officials had planned to move a water slide from another park to Archusa.
The proposed Archusa project was compared to the water slide at Maynor Creek Waterpark in Wayne County. "Some days, we only have seven or eight people to use the water slide, but it is still open," Bowen said.
The water slide project was announced while Baxter Wade served as executive director of the Pat Harrison Waterways District. It was the general impression of the local leadership in Clarke County that the water slide was a done deal.
Quitman Mayor Tommy Blackburn expressed disappointment in the decision.
